Incidental Exercise

Our current lifestyles are making us more sedentary. With so much research linking our sedentary lifestyle to increased risk of disease and health conditions such as diabetes and cardiac issues, we need to try and do more to increase our incidental activity during the day. Here are some Axiom Projects tips:

  • Set your default printer as the furthest one away in the office so you have to walk that little further to get your work
  • If you are used to drinking lots of water during the day, keep a smaller water glass on your desk so you need to walk to the kitchen to fill it more often
  • Every hour when you have your break from your computer/workstation, walk around your office floor 2 or 3 times
  • Aim to get outside and walk for 10-15 minutes on your lunch break. To increase productivity during the day, it is always good to have an extended desk break over lunch
  • When having a brief meeting or catch up with your team make it a standing meeting so everyone can burn a little more energy
  • When having a one on one catch up or small group meeting make it a walking meeting if you have a nice area near your office you can walk around
  • Office exercises – twice a day get together as an office to perform stretches or exercises – 7-15 minute workouts – Check out the Johnson and Johnson App – 7 minute workout
